The single greatest reason we love photography is people. Honestly, photographing weddings can get a little repetitive, after all, it’s the same formula every time. So, we focus on the individuals, the relationships and the family. That’s where the character and uniqueness comes from because let’s face it, style and fads in photography are always coming and going. So, for us, we focus on a lot of quality time with our clients so we all can be comfortable and natural around each other. The better fit and connection we have with our clients and their families the more character we discover with our cameras. That’s really what we want to take photos of. The dress, the bouquet, the rings, the poses... they all get old eventually. It’s people and their stories that we love so that’s what we love to photograph. As you’re about to see, we really LOVED discovering Chelsey and Cody’s family.
We make the rehearsal a priority, for a lot of different reasons, but mostly because of what you see here. This impromptu Pop-the-Collar Promenade was what welcomed us into the party. Cody and the guys went out before hand and bought these killer suits and spectacular collared shirts at the local thrift store. We were instantly pumped to not only photograph this awesome group of friends but to join in, sadly, I had no collar to pop. But every moment that weekend, even with cameras plastered to our faces, you’d see a huge smile blasting out the sides of the camera.
Chelsey’s dear friends had this amazing property on the lake and spoiled us all. It didn’t take much convincing to get the guys out on the tubes. The sun was setting, we had homemade burgers in our bellies, and we had a beautiful lake to play on. It’s times like this where being the photographer is bitter sweet. But that’s exactly the situation we want to be in, where we are having so much fun that standing behind a camera is hard. It is such a joy to be welcomed so warmly into a family like this.
We leapt out of bed the next morning, grabbed our gear and ran out to meet up with everybody. Christy headed out with the ladies for splendid getting readyness.
And me, I met up with the guys. After a beautiful expository of the absolute necessity of the hunting channel the guys fumbled through the tux routine, hair-dos and obligatory shaving.
Cody had gotten his groomsmen plaques with a collage of their past adventures and shinanagans. I love meeting people that make you wonder what it might of been like if you were part of the group.
Once the hair was satisfactory and the shirts were all tucked it was out to the back forty to take the dirt bikes out for a rip. Right about now I wished I could strap the camera to my face and hop on a bike of my own, bustin wheelies and high fiving.
Coming soon... snot stream kisses, gum boots, dilapidated farm house, and a saweet suspender dance... oh yeah, and Cody and Chelsey get married.
To be continued...
