When the weather starts rolling in or even thundering in, like here at Troy and Lindsay’s wedding last summer we get excited. Bad weather makes for beautiful dramatic skies and standing on the open prairie is the perfect vantage point.
One of our favourite parts of the wedding day is the reception. We love to photograph the life of the party and inevitably we end up staying until the wee hours of the morning, its just so hard for us to leave a hoppin’ party.

Here’s some of our favourite images from Becky and Ben’s session in the riverbottom. They were troopers amidst the flying cotton and fought hard to disguise the allergies they were suffering from through it all. They did well.

Shooting Ben and Becky’s wedding was an especially exciting day for me as Ben’s dad and my dad have been hunting buddies and friends since I was knee high to a grasshopper. A few years ago my dad and Fred (Ben’s dad) started hunting with a great new guy named Don. You guessed it... Becky’s dad. As the story goes, Becky’s parents hosted a dinner party for Ben’s family and my parents and it was love at first sight for Becky and Ben...
The single greatest reason we love photography is people. Honestly, photographing weddings can get a little repetitive, after all, it’s the same formula every time. So, we focus on the individuals, the relationships and the family. That’s where the character and uniqueness comes from because let’s face it, style and fads in photography are always coming and going. So, for us, we focus on a lot of quality time with our clients so we all can be comfortable and natural around each other. The better fit and connection we have with our clients and their families the more character we discover with our cameras. That’s really what we want to take photos of. The dress, the bouquet, the rings, the poses... they all get old eventually. It’s people and their stories that we love so that’s what we love to photograph. As you’re about to see, we really LOVED discovering Chelsey and Cody’s family.

You’ll have to pour yourself a fresh cup of coffee for this one. Troy and Melissa’s story is insane, it’s a story that just has to be told and cannot be told quickly. This will take a while.
